Multiple Intelligences-"Art of Learning in the Game of Life"

With the advent of Covid-19, there have been changes happening in almost every sector of business, people's mindset and work environments. Every single facet of life has gradually moved to cyberspace. Schools, colleges and other education models, who have always resisted online instruction so far, have taken to Online education system, as their main course, with information technology in the lead, complementing to the fact that,

.................."Tis, A Time for a change. A Time to be Proactive, To be sustainable ...................

Throwback experiences...........,

A symbolic depiction confirms, on how our society have been slaying out, one's creativity and inner self in the name of conventional way of education/career.

As Albert Einstein remarked, “Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.

........................”A Thought to Ponder.

How to "Break the Convention" and "Welcome the New".

As seen in the movie, the traditional education model has always valued one's ability to find the one right answer, using the one right approach. It was believed to be uncommon to encourage students to look beyond the answer. This was always shadowed by authority of the traditional schooling and its system.

By contrast, "Personalized student-centered learning guidance with self-directed learning approach" impetus on the development of one's own self and creativity. These methods inspire and empower the learners to come up with their own ways of approaching and solving their own challenges. They live, learn and grow in a collaborative way that, each and every student preference is taken as a tool to evaluate the learning and its impact on life.

Adopt personalised, student-centered learning with self-directed learning approach:

How to create personalised learning system and learning environment?

In all likelihood, as the present trend, the education system is undergoing a disruptive shift as school districts are transitioning to a personalized student-centered learning model.

As sounds the term, "personalised, student-centered learning model" is a “tailored learning approach, which is being inclusive of student’s strength, needs, interests and competence. Personalized learning allows children to explore their own curiosity. Engaged learners find their own resources that helps them in the learning pathway. They not only learn in this process of exploration, but gain relevant experience trialing different processes. As a result, they discover themselves and find approaches that work best suitable for them.

Change the content and evaluation pattern:

Does our learning content support this urge to learn more-in terms of well-integrated,innovative curriculum with its planning components,

How to achieve this?..........

The personalised, student-centered learning with tailored learning approach, can be adopted by integrating Multiple Intelligence learning model into our lesson planning and deliverance.

One of the most remarkable features of the theory of multiple intelligences is that, it provides eight different potential pathways to learning. If a teacher is having difficulty in reaching a student in the more traditional linguistic or logical ways of instruction, the theory of multiple intelligences suggests several other ways in which the material might be presented to facilitate effective learning. Categorically, it does not confine and evaluate the intellectual intelligence only but as a holistic intelligence that is inclusive by itself, with all the eight different methodologies, that caters to the different needs of a learner.

Gardner groups student capabilities into eight broad categories.

(each student's unique learning style is a combination of these intelligences)

Logical/mathematical (uses numbers effectively) Visual/spatial (is artistically or spatially perceptive) Bodily/kinesthetic (excels at tasks that require physical movement) Musical (perceives and/or expresses musical forms and patterns) Linguistic (uses words effectively) Interpersonal (responds well to others) Intrapersonal (is reflective and inner-directed) Naturalist (makes distinctions in the natural world)

How to address this diversity of learning styles in a heterogeneous classroom?

The teaching-learning and assessment should reflect the diversity of intelligence and learning styles in a classroom.

We can reach there in 5 easy steps:

Step 1: Know your students better to identify their competencies and interests.

Step 2: Categorize their learning styles, so as to address it with supplements.

Step3: Modify the teaching-learning methodology to cater to their needs.

Step4: Monitor their learning preferences, to facilitate with interventions.

Step5: Assess the learning pathway, giving the maximum benefit to the learner.

Build Your Own Assessment Repertoire 1. Introduce assessment and feedback as a regular part of classroom life.

2. Make collaborative learning and peer assessment as an integral part of the learning process,

3. Ensure ongoing assessment and process, improve knowledge and skills.

Identify the learning style to support with their learning preferences.

Many of these assessment strategies evaluate more than one kind of intelligence. We can use strategies like these and other combinations of projects, performances, and portfolios to assess students' progress and address each student's strengths and weaknesses, thus fulfilling the dream of Exclusive inclusion in our learning process.

Evaluations should shine a light on the hard work that students/teachers put in each and every day, in all areas for growth.

......................... to be continued as innovators mindset & metacognition strategies, in next.
